Welcome to my thesis blog!

I study space designing in Salpaus Further Education. My studies are on the point that I have to do thesis: this is the most important work before graduating. The name of my thesis is Show window as a target of visual merchandising and the starting point is to getting know more about visual merchandising and show windows.
I were interested on this topic because we have studied visual merchandising in school. Besides that I have designed some show windows on the job training periods. Visual merchandising might be strange term for someone so I could explain what really means visual merchandising:

Visual merchandising is the marketing way which advertise the imago of company by using visual ways. A show window advertising is (as to researches) more effective than a newspaper advertising. By using visual merchandising companies could advance sales and support the effort of salesperson and sellers with touchable way. Nowadays all companies and small stores has to invest in the visual merchandising because it´s the best way to separate from the competitors - well designed show window will attract more customers than boring show window.

An employer of thesis is a lifestyle store Millan Putiikki which is located in the centre of Lahti. I designed and executed show window which aim was to advance sales. Also visuality was important thing: a show window had to visually beautiful and attractive wholeness.

Because this work effects highly to consumers I decided to do a small research. The aim of research were to solve what kind of interesting consumers has for the show window advertising and will they do purchase decisions when they see a visually interesting show window. I used a questionnaire as a research material. You can read more about my thesis step- by- step on the sections above.
